When I had a day off from work, I often went to the beach.  (situatie general valabila in trecut)

Comentarii

1)  "Past Real Conditional"  face referire la un obicei trecut (nu mai e valabil in prezent).

2)  If        e folosit in cazul actiunilor mai putin frecvente;

      When e folosit in cazul actiunilor mai frecvente.
